Eddie being baffling this season so far when it comes to Marisol nolastname:
has used her as a babysitter multiple times, especially when he wants to hang out with Tommy or probably even Buck.
on a call said he was "taken at the moment", which is WILD considering maybe a couple weeks later he:
"goes with his gut" and asks his girlfriend of maybe 4 months to move in with him, and then:
3-ish days later says, wait. nevermind. we don't actually know all that much about each other huh? ok, move out please haha!
BUT ALSO during the 3-ish days Marisol was barely moved in, --> Eddie's gut instinct to part of that mess (him not knowing how to set boundaries and say "hey, i don't want to have sex") was to break up with her. he may have been joking, but there was legit truth in it. alas. --> Bobby delicately tells Eddie he didn't think Eddie was so invested in Marisol that he'd ask her to move in already (which implies Eddie doesn't really even talk about her that much, let alone is serious about her). Bobby says you don't have commitment issues with some things. --> you can see on Eddie's face he really does think he should break up with Marisol, or at the very least has Definite Doubts about her, but pushes those correct feelings away to. double down with Marisol (stay with her anyway)... for some reason.
Marisol was MIA from either wedding, the big one and the one at the hospital. (Abuela was at the hospital wedding for some reason. no idea why, but it is funny that she's Eddie's plus one.)
In conclusion: Eddie and this whole nothing burger of a relationship is perplexing. I know Marisol is just a catalyst for Eddie's Catholic guilt apparently, but GD.
Also, Eddie I love you, but you're kind of a terrible boyfriend. Marisol like Ana also seems to have zero friends to tell her to leave already.

Oldest Daughter Dick™ is probably one of my favourite things ever. And it always will be and here's why:
Of course Dick loves his siblings and of course he loves that they know Bruce as the father he is. But it won't stop the jealousy he feels. And no one gets it, not even Jason. They were all raised by Bruce Wayne, he was raised by Batman.
When Dick came to live with him, Bruce had no idea how to he a father. How to handle normal kid stuff like sicknesses and school events let alone the fact he was an acrobat. He was Batman and Dick was raised to be not just his successor but the only contingency plan he had against himself.
Bruce never held his punches ("That was a good block but I still got you, didn't I?" Bruce had said, rubbing cream into the blossoming bruise on Dick's side. "I'll get you next time," Dick had promised, young eyes challenging. "You better." Bruce had grinned back.) All attacks were to remind him that he was at a disadvantage strength wise and thus needed to re-evaluate his lines of defense and offense.
Dick was raised by the paranoid-in-his-late-twenties-probably-shouldn't-be-a-dad-despite-what-Marisol-said Bat. A fun game of catch? He was dodging Batarangs. Learning to drive? It was the Batmobile and he was age 14 (and a half). School events? He was fumbling, awkward and did not want to be there (but still was because he'll be damned if his boy didn't have his support.)
And you know that's fine, Dick was fine. It wasn't Bruce's fault he didn't know how to be a proper dad, despite Alfred's parenting books and videos. And he did try, he was always there. But it just really hits a sore spot everytime he sees Bruce hold a punch before he knocks Tim out cold or when he's behind the wheel with Steph telling her what not to do. Or even when he's at school with Damian and Duke making Marjory and her cupcakes look ridiculous compared to him and his coconut crumble cakes.
It also irritates Dick beyond senseless whenever the topic of sparring with Bruce is mentioned. ("We can all beat the old man Goldie, he's ancient." Jason shrugs off and Dick wanted to scream.) The only one who even tries to sympathize with him was Cass. More than likely because she'd seen him fight as Batman The Dark Knight before seeing him fight as Bruce The Father of Six-Almost-Eight.
And it just really stings because he can't relate to being raised by Bruce the way the others can't. Bruce changed for them, not him. And maybe that kind of hurts. But maybe he's overreacting.
What he doesn't realize is he's the reason why Bruce changed. Bruce saw the hurt and anger in Dick's eyes when he fired him from Robin (Think Shifu denying Tai Lung the Dragon Warrior scroll). He knew the second he saw the betrayal in Dick's eyes after seeing Jason as Robin, that he'd have to change. (The same way Shifu should've changed for Tigress but I digress, not that fandom).
Bruce pulls his punches because he hated seeing Dick limp away from their sparring matches—despite the fire and promise of a rematch in his eyes. He teaches them how to drive regular cars before the Batmobile because the one time Dick crashed (while trying to avoid some of Poison Ivy's vines) his heart rate skyrocketed so high Clark had called him up demanding to know if he was okay. He shows up for Duke and Damian and Cass and Tim because Dick's smile whenever he saw Bruce in the parent's lounge never failed to make him melt.
Bruce stands firm on the fact that while he may have made a hero out of Dick, Dick Grayson made a father out of Bruce Wayne.

Ok, so
Ep 07x04 - Buck, bothered and bewildered
Possibly referring to the song
Bewitched, Bothered, And Bewildered by Ella Fitzgerald
Some lyrics:
Men are not a new sensation I've done pretty well I think But this half-pint imitation Put me on the blink
Lost my heart, but what of it He is cold I agree He can laugh, but I love it Although the laugh's on me
He's a fool and don't I know it But a fool can have his charms I'm in love and don't I show it Like a babe in arms
Love's the same old sad sensation Lately I've not slept a wink Since this half-pint imitation Put me on the blink
But I'm like sweet seventeen a lot
"Couldn't eat, was dyspeptic
Life was so hard to bear
Now my heart's antiseptic
Since you moved out of there
Romance, finis, your chance, finis
So this ep will be focused on Buck
We know he's - yet again- on a self discovery journey but - hopefully- finally reaching the turning point
This whole song is very much Buck like... "lost my heart but what for", "Love's the same old sad sensation", "but I'm like sweet 17 a lot"
That's one side of it
The other is being stunned and revived by someone
I'm wondering if he maybe has a bi re-awakening
Some guy he absolutely crushes on and only then does he realize that... Actually if I can have sex with guys, why not have a relationship with them... Maybe this will change something...
And he finally, very slowly, starts to realize something
Or
It's all just about Natalia and him realizing that it's not it and he was just a little bit bewitched
Cause the "bewitched" is missing in the title and that means that he's not anymore but now he's
Bothered - cause he fell into the same pattern like always
Bewildered - cause something is dawning on him
Still choosing a song with the line "Men are not a new sensation" is WILD
-
Episode 7x05 - You don't know me
Possibly referring to the song
You Don't Know Me by Ray Charles
To you, I'm just a friend That's all I've ever been No, you don't know me
I never knew the art of making love Though, my heart aches with love for you, yeah I'm afraid and shy, I let my chance go by A chance that you might love me too
You give your hand to me, and then, you say goodbye And then, I watched you walk away beside the lucky guy I know you'll never know the one who loved you so No, you don't know me
I mean this screams Eddie pov
If Buck does have a bi thing going on...
Eddie would possibly be like... Oh so it would've been a possibility after all?
But now I'm too late
And he obviously only ever saw me as a friend
I pray to all the TV gods this will result in a talk with either Karen or Maddie
Cause even though we all agree the man has already realized his feelings for Buck
If there was a bi thing... that would change his perspective
But he'd also be afraid
Thus a talk with either a competent queer person (who is not the 118) or someone who knows a side of Buck he doesn't and knows if that could actually still be a real possibility
But honestly that's just what I wish for myself here
Anyway
I think though that watching Buck with Natalia, it makes Eddie's heart ache and Marisol will just be another Ana... Just a way to do what's expected of him, what's right, what seems good
But also I feel the "You don't know me" directly relates to the "She sees me"
So I feel... Maybe something happens and - like always- Eddie is there and giving Buck exactly what he needs cause he knows and sees Buck
Maybe Buck makes a queer related joke... Something along the lines of...
Haha wouldn't it be easier if you liked guys, we could just date each other!...
and Eddie answers "I'm afraid, you don't know me that well"
Ok I'm venturing into fic inspo now
But I think the contrast of these two songs is so interesting and the way they relate to Buddie SO HARD
And I will not stop talking about that god damn "Men are not a new sensation" line
Anyways we all didn't want to clown again but I'm afraid the clown train is boarded and rolling and it's a party

Buck & Chris’s relationship + abandonment issues - long post
Do y’all think part of the reason Christopher went with his Grandparents is because he felt safe enough about Buck’s love and commitment to him that he knew Buck wouldn’t be mad at him when he came back?
Before I continue with that train of thought, this thought process is shaped by theories I’ve seen about why Chris called his Grandparents instead of Buck when Chris has gone to Buck for support with his anger/fear due to Eddie’s whole thing twice before (4x08 & 5x13) but he didn’t this time? Why? maybe because viewing him as a parental figure in this case impacts how he views Buck likelyhood to be completely on his side as his grandparents (especially Helena) are instead of being on both of their side - which he was
Chris was really angry and hurt, he didn’t want Buck to try to fix this, to try to keep them together, he wanted Buck to be angry at Eddie with him, but that’s not who Buck is and both Chris and Eddie know that
That’s why Eddie called him and Chris didn’t
Now back to Chris, his abandonment issues, and his relationship with Buck and how we can interpret it based off 7x10
Chris has severe abandonment issues, which is not surprising at all based on what he’s been through - Eddie being in active duty throughout his early childhood, then working himself to the bone with three jobs, Shannon leaving to California and then dying
Then he had feelings of abandonment during the pandemic, he lost contact with both Ana & Marisol after their relationships with Eddie ended, his bisabuela moved back to Texas, and we didn’t heard about Carla at all season 7 (I’m like 98% sure - please correct me if I’m wrong)
In season 7 he even said he feels like girls leave when Buck had that dating talk with him
(Even Buck technically left him for a bit, during the lawsuit era but I’m unsure is he views it that way or not though we do know that Chris missed him during that time - Grocery Store Divorce and all)
However, Buck has since made a promise to him and their relationship has evolved a lot since then
We know that Chris goes to Buck when he’s mad at Eddie (4x08) and there’s lot of evidence that indicates he views Buck as a parental figure (he talks to Buck in a similar fashion as he does Eddie, he seeks out Buck for support, the way he spoke to Buck while he was in a coma, just to name a few)
Plus there’s a reason Eddie chose Buck as Chris’s legal guardian and why the writers chose to include that plot
Because of Buck & Chris’s bond
And he lost his mom, he’s almost lost his dad several times, he’s gotten attached to two different women Eddie was seeing and has now lost them
When Chris ubered to Buck’s place and said that everyone leaves, Buck promised he wouldn’t leave Chris
And then when he talked to Chris before he left with his grandparents, Buck did flounder a bit (as would I in that situation, not judging here) but he does make a comment about understanding Chris wanting to go which would probably reassure Chris that Buck isn’t and won’t be mad at him
I think Chris would have had a harder time leaving if he was scared of Buck not being there when he got back
We all have our assumptions (mostly negative from what I’m seeing but I’m not judging I do too) but we don’t actually know what Helena’s saying to Chris, if she’s talking down Eddie’s love for him or not
But while it’s possible she is, Eddie told Chris himself that he can come home at any point he wants
We can also assume that part of why Chris left is because he’s mad + hurt and lashing out wanting Eddie to feel the same as him / doesn’t trust Eddie right now and is waiting for Eddie to do something to prove himself before he’ll be ready go home
I do believe that Chris knows that he can go home to Eddie (no matter what Helena may or may not be saying) and thus him leaving isn’t triggering his abandonment issues and that he’s just waiting for, as I theorized above, for Eddie to prove he won’t be hurt again if he does
and thus his abandonment issues won’t be triggered regarding Eddie (this time) unless he’s convinced he can’t go home, something happens with Eddie, or Eddie fails to prove himself to Chris
OR his abandonment issues were already triggered and he felt like he was losing Eddie (again) to Kim and her madness and he left as a means to protect himself from that, and is, again waiting for proof that he’s safe to come home from the aftermath of all that
All that to say I don’t think his abandonment issues would stop him from leaving Eddie with his grandparents in this particular instance
Ethier way though… because Chris has had a lot of experience of not having both his parents, losing parents, dealing with the fear of losing parents, and losing positive authority figures, it had to be really tough to leave Eddie himself, no matter how angry and hurt he is
And if I’m right and he does view Buck as a parental figure as well then we might assume he’d also fear losing Buck as well by leaving to Texas
I think his abandonment issues would have been triggered regarding Buck while living in Texas, especially since he’s probably always worried about losing Eddie to a certain extent (army, overworking himself in Texas, work as a firefighter, etc) he lost his mother twice, lost both Ana and Marisol who may not have been parental figures but were positive authority figures in his lives, except Buck promised Chris he wouldn’t leave him
And so I think independently of his feelings regarding abandonment and Eddie, Chris still feels secure in his relationship with Buck to not fear losing him during his time away
Just a theory and I could totally be off but it’ll be really interesting to see how they address everything when Buck and Chris reunite (if they do)

The fact that I’m seeing y’all say Marisol was dropped off camera was well… Tim had no clue what he was doing this season and it shows. I’m sorry y’all, but I’ve been saying it since 7x04.
He clearly had a plan for the cruise arc, but every thing else seems rushed and like a fresh start more so than a well-rounded plot. Tommy and Marisol especially.
Tommy existed to get Buck out the closet, but he did not need to stick around. My guess is Tim didn’t want Buck to be single, but also as I’ve said, he likes the hype Buddie brings but has zero plans to actually commit. Good story or not.
As for Marisol, he admitted to having no idea what to do with her. So of course she was gonna be an issue, but he could have had her break up with Eddie when he asked her to move back out. It was such a waste of writing and screen time to have him cheat for no reason. Because yes, the Kim plot was stupid as hell, and only served to break up Marisol and Eddie and get Chris to Texas.
I love this show so so much, but s7 was the worst thus far. None of the calls were memorable, the characters didn’t really do much in terms of growth or dealing with consequences of their actions or emotional turmoil, and it was overall sloppy. Yes, Bobby went through a lot and Eddie lost Chris, but these storylines would’ve been better fleshed out across five/six episodes. Not the last two or three, inter-spliced with useless relationship drama.
Useless, because Buck and Eddie should have been single to begin with this season. The only stories worth a damn were *Henren and Madney, and ABC ain’t lift a single damn finger to promote them for real. A shame. They relied on bi!Buck and Buddie chit chat, and from what it sounds like and what the finale offered, that was a waste.
(*) Also gonna add, while I’m glad Henren and Madney got storylines this season despite the obvious skew toward the Big Thing being Buck coming out, it’s played out how many times Hen and Karen are given a “We want a daughter.” story to arch the whole season and then have it fail. It’s played out how many times Chimney and Maddie are written as having a big happy moment crushed by a traumatic episode, then they’re just happy again.
I genuinely feel like Tim did absolutely nothing with this season.

I swore I wouldn't get involved in this season's crazy,
And I won't, but most of the ppl I follow are die hard buddie, so I see stuff.
Gotta say most of my theories from the spoilers I glimpsed are widely different from interpenetrations I saw thus far.
And if I ever wrote those it would be loooong so I'm not going to.
I think, however, with the move to ABC (Love their shows, love their ships and messages) I am hoping for a few things.
I am hoping that both of the bathena pair survive their honeymoon
I am hoping Hen and Karen continue to be happy and finally parenting another child that will not be taken from them.
I hope Madney finally ties the knot. for the love of god let these two get married and be happy together.
I hope Eddie breaks up with Marisol early in the season (I saw a bts of her- I'm pissed that the season starts with the "fake girlfriend" at all.) and comes out or becomes more obvious about his straighthood because I ain't been feeling it since early S3.
I hope Buck experiences actual growth and becomes the 29 year old adult that he's supposed to be by now.
I hope we get new blood of firefighters joining this very small for any firehouse crew, and that their drama and mischief will be young and fun.
I hope we get Ravi, A LOT of Ravi!
I hope this show finds it's sweet spot again, because the fans and tbh the cast deserves a good storytelling even if for one season,
I hope BUDDIE goes canon and that Buck adopts Christopher, but that's just wishful thinking - because 7 seasons in, I will believe it ONLY if I see it.
Regardless, of if buddie gets together, I hope people will start getting laid in this show, I mean, the only couple who's got it going on strong since S2 are Bathena. I mean, good on them, but for god's sake, no wonder Buck and Eddie are so miserable, neither of them got laid on screen since mid season 2.
Are these people hermits?
Just some random thoughts that snuck in.
Anyway, have a great premiere my friends, give me a shout if buddie does the impossible and finally get together.

eddie's season 7 opening on what looks like a date with marisol except at the first lull in the conversation they smile at each other and she says "i'm glad we could stay friends" and eddie's like "yeah me too" and she has to go but she tells him to call her if he needs any help with his tia's broken porch step but he tells her buck and him have got it covered, so she leaves him at the table but he's not quite ready to go home to an empty house yet so he heads to the bar for a new drink when a man sidles up to him and asks if he can buy it and ryan guzman does his fucking insane thing with the most complex expression of terror and bemusement and hope and daring before saying "yeah, i think i'd like that" and thus eddie's season 7 arc begins.

I don’t usually share episode / plot thoughts cause I always feel like everything I write sounds so stupid immediately after I post it, BUT-
I very genuinely hope all of this mess with Eddie explodes horribly. Twice now, he’s faced a big turning point within himself after a big downward spiral, and I think this is gonna be the third time.
I want him to be the one to break things off with Kim and sorta close the chapter on his Shannon trauma. But I want Marisol pissed, furious. I think she needs to really lay into him about this, say something really nasty. Eddie, I love you, but you kinda deserve to feel like shit too after pulling this.
Imagine at the end, everyone’s feeling hurt, including himself, maybe Buck’s also a little mad about it all. Because he couldn’t reason with Eddie at first or he’s mad about being dragged into a lie and being complicit with it.
And THEN-
Big injury or really close call for Eddie on the job 👀 and we pull in the catholic guilt again as a closer on this storyline. Because he’s questioning who he is at his core, and he feels like a bad person and maybe he deserves to be hurt physically in exchange for hurting everyone emotionally? Gods retribution for his sins?? Real bottom of his spiral kind of stuff.
Anyway, he makes it out of course, but confides in Bobby after that he feels like he doesn’t deserve to be fine after all that.
And then BAM- another Eddie Bobby parallel, and Bobby gets to basically talk Eddie through a situation that emotionally parallels his own recent problems, thus also reaffirming it for himself too.
And we get a conversation about how our mistakes don’t determine our worth and we get the chance to learn from them, grow, and be better. We get to try and make amends (👀) but it might not always work out, but it doesn’t mean we give up on ourselves. Bobby’s view on God is definitely so different from Eddie. I feel like Eddie probably views him as a god with a flaming sword, where Bobby have gotten to a point where he can focus on God’s love and forgiveness. And I think affirming that to Eddie (even though he’s more lapsed than anything) would help him start looking at his religious past in a different light.
This is long, don’t know where I’m going with this anymore, goodniiiiight

Instead of Tommy being an LI for Buck, he is the reason Buck realizes he is in love with Eddie.
Buck is struggling with everything and doesn't want anyone, especially Eddie, to know, not when they are so happy.
He meets Tommy at a scene, and then again, Chimney starts bringing him around because Tommy is going to be in the wedding.
We learn Tommy is in a serious relationship as he teases Chimney that all of this is giving him the do's and don't as he plans his own wedding.
We learn Tommy and his partner started out as best friends. They clicked after a rough start but have been insperatable after that. How they have supported each other through the good times, the bad times, and the horrible times. He talks about how he longed for the kind of love Chimney found with Maddie and Hen has with Karen. How he fell into relationships because he just wanted to be loved even though he knew that they wouldn't last.
That one day, just a normal day of them hanging out, he looked at his friend, and it hit him like a bolt of lightning that, "I had been looking for love instead of seeing I had already made it with them."
And that has Buck looking back on his relationships with Taylor and Natalia and realizes that he had been looking for love instead of trying to make it. And by trying to force something that is never meant to be is why they crumbled.
"I made it with Eddie and Christopher."
Cue Buck is struggling with that knowledge, and being Buck doesn't want to say anything in fear of losing Eddie and Christopher from his life.
While Eddie is realizing that Marisol is fun to be with, their relationship feels too much like his with Ana, and that is not a road he wants to go down again and he refuses to stay with another woman just because Christopher likes them, he needs to take in account his own feelings. A relationship can not work if both aren't giving their all. And he can't give Marisol what she deserves when he is full of jealousy over Buck's new friendship with Tommy.
Both Buck and Eddie come to realize that what they seek, the love everyone around they have already found they have with each other. But neither wants to make a move, afraid that the other doesn't feel the same way and don't want to risk losing their friendship.
Thus giving us lots of pining in s8.

I was reading your tags on the Eddie and Catholicism post you made and 😘. I have been thinking about that bts of Marisol and Chris and how she is dressed so much like Eddie. Such a clear difference from how she has appeared so far. And your thought of her being the physical representation of religion and Eddie’s feelings around them. He has to let go of a part of himself in order to move forward in his journey. I just am 🤯
Hey Nonnie
Thank You 💜💜💜
I too have been musing on that bts of Marisol and Chris - an how it reads very much like she's babysitting him once again (the whole thing is just screaming at me that she's a defacto Carla at this point!!)
They really have set her up as a physical representation of catholicism - especially in Eddie mind - with the virgin Mary visual we got last episode - the show did not want to be subtle! I am here for it - I'm hoping its actually going to be a bit of a fun slightly silly arc for Eddie rather than the darker more intense arcs of pervious seasons - and so far everything is indicating that to be the case - a confused slightly stupid Eddie bumbling along and figuring it out as he goes is a fun contrast that I'm looking forward to getting to see - because he is my blorbo and he is a bit of a dumbass when it comes to himself - man is a master of not peeping over the walls he has built until forced - so comedy forcing him to look would be wonderful!
The fact they have kind of dressed her like Eddie is an interesting one - because she's kind of dressed more like Athena than Eddie to be honest - Eddie doesn't wear balck and khaki all that often- Athena however wears black boots, khaki green trousers and black tops a. Lot! In fact I think if I went and did a count over her costumes in relation to Eddies she would be far far higher inn the khaki wearing department in relation to other colours!
That to me is where the interest lies - because Eddie and Athena have been paralleled a fair amount - especially from a costuming perspective. So the choice to put her in a costume that echos that parallel is a really interesting one to me - especially if we go back to season 1 Athena - an Athena who was dealing with the fall out from Michaels decision to come out of the closet he'd been kept in his whole life - and when they have been making very pointed comments about closets and armoires and moving too fast .
The potential of a parallel of having a partner who is in the closet whilst being in a relationship with you is a super interesting one to me - it speaks volumes for where things could be headed - especially as May and Harry ended up in the middle of that season 1 arc - and we have Christopher going through his own thing in relation to girls and dating and also now having scenes with Marisol.
I may well be drawing a parallel too far with this, however the rest of my reads on how they've dressed her thus far (especially considering they've given her a glow up on s6 Marisol!!) have been pretty close to the mark. So I'm putting it out into the world and we'll see how things play out!

I'm sleepy as I type this out, but with one episode to go, um. I'm truly at a loss for what the point of Marisol was. I'm so serious.
There's one episode left and the only thing that should and can happen is Eddie breaking up with Marisol. Doesn't really matter if it's mutual, or if Marisol beats Eddie to it and breaks up with him first. It doesn't matter. Because the only "purpose" Marisol has served this entire season is to, apparently, be a babysitter to Chris offscreen, set off some kind of catholic guilt storyline for Eddie, which? Has that even been touched on again? Right now Eddie is just reckoning with unresolved trauma about Shannon. And the third thing Marisol has done is to I'd say passively be cheated on (like, Marisol is passive in all this if that makes sense). There's zero weight to her being cheated on because she's not a character, and we the audience do not care about Eddie and Marisol as a couple.
Like?????????????
Idk y'all. I mean I've seen some small bits of meta that both Marisol and Kim are examples of how they never held weight to/for Eddie. Like that's The Point. It was handled weirdly and not well, but it was to show how Eddie is 1) comparing these women to an idealized and fantastical version of Shannon, and thus they'll never match up, but still he persisted to try to recapture his and Shannon's "magic." And 2) Eddie was, honestly, trying to fit these women into roles, mold them almost into this skewed idea he has of what a relationship between a man and woman should look like.
And sure there's some merit to that, but idk. If the show wanted to showcase that Eddie is still stuck on Shannon, that he's stuck on an idealized version of Shannon and their relationship that didn't exist, then they could have gone a different route. Because as is, right now, we're still left with Marisol who, frankly, served no purpose. Not really. And we have soap opera levels of nonsense with doppelgängers that doesn't feel grounded in the reality that 911 often has (at least when it comes to the core 118 and their human stories).
And sure, all this stuff with Marisol and Kim is in my eyes further proof that Eddie is a very repressed gay man, but again. Find a different way to tell these important things.
I don't even care about Marisol (certainly not the actress), but this all goes into my dislike of how this season has overall handled Eddie as a character and his stories. To me, right now, a lot of it just comes across disrespectful to Eddie. They had a good start in episode one (though the focus was mostly on Chris...), but it quickly went downhill in my eyes.

Honestly so far this season has just messed with all my eddie hc, which isn’t a problem in andof itself, it just basically means i’m having to look at him now and ask who the hell this character actually is, and idk yet if i enjoy him as much as i have previous seasons. And i also have to question if this is me having totally misinterpreted who he was from the beginning, or if the writers are actually writing him differently this season for some reason? Like i love seeing eddie happy, but the happiness he’s exuded this season has just been really out of nowhere and almost aggressively in your face. Like why did he ask marisol to move in when he’s had no more development with her than he did with ana, and being with her caused him to have literal panic attacks? That makes no sense?? The way he acted in 704 was so out of nowhere too, and i know it’s theorized that it’s just from buck’s perspective, but how do we know that for sure? Because he’s obviously been acting kind of careless after that too, especially with shannon’s doppelganger whose name i forgot atm sorry. And to me that’s the ONE instance i actually completely understand him acting so differently, because like how the hell is he supposed to act in a situation like that?? I completely understand him behaving erratically after that, but why did they write him like that before that too then?
Idk, like i said, maybe i’ve misinterpreted him all along, or maybe the writers are cooking up something truly incredible here, but as of right now i’m thinking it’s just odd writing tbh. It feels like they’ve moulded his personality to fit all these different storylines rather than working those storylines around his natural personality. Like i actually refuse to believe he’d ask marisol to move in and then back out like that. Maybe it’s bcs of the shortened season ig. Anyway, i think it’s why i feel like i’ve lost my grip of him this season somehow…
I really, really hope they make it work in the end, but i’m genuinely wondering how they will do that. Like at this point only a brain tumor would make sense to me, but i don’t think they’re gonna do that lmao
yeah honestly anon idk what to tell you LOL my strategy with this season is to basically pretend whatever happened for eddie (and buck/hen to an extent) didn’t happen and the end result is all im paying attention to. it’s not you, the writing for eddie has been TERRIBLE and careless thus far this season, at least after 7x01. we’ll see how things go but the 7x05 plotline seems to just be a throwaway lmfao (and no like … he IS impulsive but he’s never had a problem with moving fast in relationships in the past and he certainly would not do any of that). 7x04 i do think is very much from buck’s pov (tim confirmed this but also eddie is back to being normal with tommy in 7x06). i really do not understand what’s going on with eddie either and i think that’s part of what’s making the season so unenjoyable 🤷🏾‍♀️ i can’t blame you

It would be great to get bi buck, it really would!! I think people’s issue with the Tommy and buck stuff is that y’all have plucked Tommy as a LI out of thin air. You’ve just seen a guest starring male character near buck and decided ‘yep it’s probably gonna be him’ with zero proof. Sure, for all we know it could be him, but it could just as easily be any other male character new or old
People's issue with "the Tommy and Buck stuff" is that it's not Eddie. When the fandom was theorizing how the show could build a Buckley-Diaz arc to start the season, no one complained. When the fandom theorizes on how Eddie's still canon relationship can lead him to realizing his feelings for Buck, no one complains. When the fandom theorizes on how Eddie's still canon relationship can inspire ~jealousy~ and hurt in Buck because of his hidden feelings, no one complains. As soon as you say "Buck could get a boyfriend. And the first one might not be Eddie"? NOW you're "talking crazy with zero proof". Tommy is the easy topic because we know he's there. Being a first responder helps, too. It could literally be some guy Buck meets in the premiere and the fandom would still go "omg why are you always trying to hook Buck and Eddie up with the people they meet???" Uh...probably because that's the way the show has gone season after season? The fandom says "That won't happen!" And they're wrong. Every time. I know for a fact that if I was treating Buck and some bf not named Eddie as a "crackship" no one would care what I'm saying. But that's not what I do. If my gut says Buddie isn't going canon this season, I'm gonna look at the story that's been laid out thus far and form my opinions around that as opposed to what I *want* Tim to do. If Natalia were coming back, obviously Buck discovering his attraction to men would not be on anyone's mind. But it's looking like he's single, and if we're hoping for any kind of deviation from what we're used to, why shouldn't it happen while he's single? Why shouldn't it happen while Tim gets to collab with a new network and write for a new audience who MIGHT be more open to such change if it's told right off the bat vs. years from now (and will come across as "pandering")?
Buck getting a boyfriend doesn't mean Buddie's dead. It would just mean Buddie isn't happening right now. Which should not be a controversial statement considering Marisol's status, but this fandom wants what they want when they want it. And if they don't get it? That's when the tantrums begin.

Heartbroken Evangeline Fox strikes a deal with a fate, the prince of hearts, to stop her true love from marrying someone else. She is convinced that her boyfriend Luc was cursed into marrying her step-sister. However she greatly underestimates the contents of her deal with the prince of hearts.
“𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬. 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞.”
Rҽʋιҽɯ:
Sadly I was unaware that OUABH is a spin off series to Stephanie Garber's Caraval series and thus I am missing a load of world building, which made it a really confusing read for me. It felt hard to picture the scenery and feel of the world, however that is most likely my fault.
This book is a really fun and fast-paced read. The story relies heavily on both using and simultaniously subverting typical fairytale tropes, which made it really interesting. It can become rather sappy and the characters feel dull at times but in the end I still enjoyed it a lot.
I know some people dislike our main character for being so very naive, but I don't mind at all, because I do not think it is overdone. Yes Evangeline does naive things and has a naive outlook on love itself, but it doesn't hinder her in this story to an annoying degree. She was born to people who had a fairytale type of love and so that is what she seeks, and she does realize that it is not as easy as she has always thought and that she also makes mistakes. Yes Evangeline is in a lot of ways the stereotypical fairytale girl, but she doesn't just get strung along by the happenings of her world, she thinks, she strategises and she acts. She is what truly impacts the storyline. "But Tara, she's literally the main character." Yes! But sadly, in these types of books, it is often rare. We get female main characters that basically don't do anything other than look pretty all of the time, and I am glad Evangeline does not do that.
The supporting characters however fell flat a bunch of times, other than Jacks and Marisol I could not care less... ( I loved Marisol, I don't know why but I was OBSESSED with her while reading the book)
There is one scene near the end of the book that gets a teeny tiny bit spicy, so just in case that bothers you, it might not be for you. But although I don't like spice in my books at all tbh I didn't really mind it this time (I don't know if it gets more in the future books of the series).
Overall I think if I had read Caraval previously the book would have been a lot more coherent to me, the world building felt very patchy at times, because it was just SO MUCH cramped in one world. But like I said I enjoyed it, I like our main characters, I like the writing style and I'm excited to see where it goes!

Can I ask why you don’t think they wrote much of Tommy/eddie before knowing it woild be buck/tommy?
Because Tommy's storyline in the cruise disaster was originally meant to be Lucy's and he only got brought in when they knew Arielle couldn't make it. As the writers were working on the outline for the season, they'd know very early that they'd have to check for both Natalia's and Marisol's actresses on whether they'd be able to come back. It's probably at this stage that the cruise disaster was taking form (probably still with Lucy in the pilot's role), and we know Tim was writing a short arc for Buck and Natalia that would end in a breakup.
But Annelise could probably confirm pretty early that she wouldn't be available, as she'd be having shows in NYC weekly starting in January, and likewise for Arielle with her Rescue Hi-Surf. That means that Tim and the rest of the writers and producers would've known pretty early that Natalia and Buck would have to end off screen - which means they wouldn't want to do that with Eddie and Marisol as well, and thus they would've known pretty early that Eddie would be in a relationship going into season seven. So if Eddie and Tommy was ever floated as an idea (which, again, only is something Lou said he thought was going to be the idea when he first heard about being involved in a queer storyarc and hasn't been confirmed by anyone else) it would've been scrapped very early. It's very possible that they knew that Eddie and Marisol would continue to be a thing even before Tommy got roped in to replace Lucy.

My biggest question is: how are they going to wrap all the stories in 40 minutes!?!!??
There’s a lot to tell: Madney, the bridge thing, the sperm donor story, Natalia/Marisol, hopefully some Buddie…
I’m really intrigued about how they’re gonna play it all!
It's a LOT for 40 minutes, I am not completely sure that they can wrap all of it up in one episode.
I have a feeling that for all of KR love for wrapping up stories for the season, this one has the potential to end on a cliffhanger.
I believe that the Madney situation may only be resolved next season, the bridge thing is totally dependent on when in the episode it happens, if it is at the end of 6x17, like 4x13 when Eddie was shot? Or maybe a cliffhanger where we're left to wonder if one of our favorite firefighters live through this disaster.
Buck's talk with Connor told me two things, one Connor is not entirely sure he wants a baby or ready to have one, now that it's a reality, and something is waiting just around the corner for Buck.
Now the clown in me says that all the references from both Buck and Eddie to the future and things becoming very real very soon have a hidden, or maybe not so hidden, message that buddie canon is very near. I'm optimistic that way.
So Buck, imo, came to terms with the sperm donor thing, but I don't think the couple itself has their story resolved. I'm semi hoping they ask Buck to be godfather, or for Connor to get cold feet and for Cameron to come to Buck for help with her birth and later with the baby.
But those are all fanfics materials lol, we'll see.
The Cameron thing, imo, will probably happen in the beginning of the episode, thus leaving the firefam to maybe discuss it as the universe screams at them again, that life is short and they're wasting time.
I'm thinking maybe Natalia helps Buck come to terms with something, and they separate as friends or whatever, because dating Natalia will be pretty much dating Taylor under another profession, but same attitude.
Natalia is an interesting character, but she doesn't feel concrete enough to stick around, I think she's just a way for Buck to move past his ordeal and come to terms with whatever is holding him back now.
In my experience, those that find death fascinating were either touched by it (family members or trauma of some sort) or are facing the possibility of their own mortality, Natalia's motives to why she chose to be a death doula may shed light on what her function in this story is. -So if the disaster doesn't happen at the beginning of the episode, Natalia may show up to wrap up her appearance in this show at the beginning of 6x18.
Marisol, I'm pretty sure, is one if the victims most probably, in the bridge crash, I can't see any reason as to why she would suddenly show up, unless it's another one of Pepa's attempts at matchmaking lol.
If they do manage, by some miracle, to shove all of those things into one episode, it will probably end up being hurried and leave us with the same unsatisfied feeling we all experienced at the end of 3x18. (At least for me and my mutuals.) The train wreck resolution felt very anticlimactic, so I'm hoping 6x18 doesn't suffer the same fate.
As I've said before, this whole season we've been counting down to some bonus, as far as I'm concerned, it's time to put up or shut up, because we can't have so much character developments on all levels with all the characters only to be fated to watch them making the same mistakes all over again.
I do hope that we get a Bobby sending Buck away, while he and Ravi try to get to Eddie. While Buck, worried about Eddie, is making his way to save his older sister Hen and his future brother in law.
It's known from one of the bts pic that Chimney will be hurt badly, so I'm expecting something, emotional and heart-wrenching and frantic maybe, and maybe a little crazy Buck stunt 👀
Tumblr media
I'm hoping, that once Eddie and Buck reunite we'll finally get a hug or better yet, a desperate 'you're a sight for sore eyes, I fucking love you' kiss.
Manifest with me 🙏✨️✨️✨️
Ps. Also manifest Buck's couch catching fire and Buck moving to the Diaz household where his favorite and chosen couch resides. 😌✨️🙏
